Downtown Modesto Ballpark
Modesto, California
Minor-League Ballpark
Building on the momentum of Modesto’s rich baseball history and aided by its growing and diversifying population, Modesto has a unique opportunity to create a regional asset that will benefit all of Stanislaus County for generations to come. As is increasingly common amongst new stadiums, the facility will be designed not just for baseball but as a multi-use venue, allowing it to accommodate a variety of events Stanislaus County cannot host at the moment.
With a 5,000 seat capacity, the new Downtown Modesto Ballpark provides a wide variety of seating options organized into distinct neighborhoods around an open, 360° concourse. A club-level lounge, private suites, gameday suites, and flexible party areas adorn the second-story structure behind home plate. And a 500-person flexible ballroom allows the venue to be programmed 365 days per year.
The new ballpark incorporates all the 2021 MLB PDL requirements, including player development, player safety, and female staff.
The proposed multi-purpose venue would be located at the southern end of the 10th Street corridor, following the City’s recently-adopted Downtown Master Plan, anchoring a “string of pearls” that includes the Convention Center, 10th Street Place, Gallo Center for the Arts, and Tuolumne River Regional Park. The ballpark façade and surrounding context offer a variety of commercial and industrial storefronts along the sidewalk, activating the neighborhood with complementary ground-floor uses such as restaurants, bars, and retail. Upper stories provide an opportunity for commercial office and residential uses, strengthening downtown Modesto as a regional live-work-play destination.
